The Resolution of the XRF instrument is defined as the width at half the height of the Iron Ka peak at 6.4 keV. For this instrument, it is typically in the range of 212-218 eV. This value is displayed when the instrument is standardized using a disk of high-quality 316 stainless steel. The higher the resolution (narrower width of peak), the easier it is to separate lines of similar energy arising from mixtures of elements.
