The field-portable X-Ray Fluorescence analyzer may be used in accordance with EPA Method 6200 to screen soil for metal pollutants. This could be done as part of a risk assessment or remediation (cleanup) project. Here are links to US EPA and State Soil Screening Levels
In addition to screening soil, the XRF analyzer can check wood and other organic materials for the presence of heavy metals using this same method. For example, one application is the identification of CCA (copper, chromium, arsenic)-treated wood.
Our instrument currently supports the following 23 elements in Soil Mode: Ti, Ba, Mn, Fe, Co, Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Pb, Rb, Sr, Zr, Hg, Se, U, Mo, Pd, Ag, Cd, Sn, Sb
